About
Rosie Stanton is some-sort-of artist. She is well trained with a Bachelor of Arts n’ Farts from the VCA class of 2021 and well practiced with a slow and steady studio practice of almost pre-teen age maturity.
She will flip flop (by frustration or for fun) between material visual and the spoken written. With loose allegiance to final form, she nurtures ideas through permutations of possible and impossible expressions.
Rosie’s guiding ghosts are elusive though persistently present: whimsy and resonance, sentimentality and spirit sensitivity, playful absurdity, and mysterious familiarity.
Rosie loves to host workshops, exhibit paintings, perform poetry, write creative essays, and sit a market stall. But. Honestly and truly, Rosie’s passion is for serious play and she will fiercely protect her and your God-given privilege to chase the tail of your own curiosity and imagine a happier day.
Like most DIY projects, it never turns out quite like we hope.
Rosie embellishes her mistakes and decorates her errors. She even loves the painting she hates.
With self-control she relinquishes control and allows the ink to bleed and pool.
She does this as a reminder of our human limits, and as a reminder of the lack of limits in the redemption of all things through Jesus Christ.
He redeems non kosher animals.
He redeems broken vessels.
He redeems unfaithful Christians.
He redeems money.
He redeems the naked body.
He redeems the snake.
He redeems me.
He does all this, without rushing and without mistakes.
Exhibited at Changing Room Gallery, Carlton, VIC. 4/2025.
